Yeah, open a new thread if you can't get it to do what you want (and still have series info in your feeds) -- I'll take a closer look at this because I probably *should* separate the series stuff in the feeds from content (i.e. have series info added to feeds regardless of what is in the blog page design).

Closing this thread...open a new one for your next issue :)

Ah, that's sorted then. I had that disabled because I want to style it first, preferrably on another part of the page. That would mean using the function instead of having it "auto-added" to the_content. Somehow, that doesn't seem to work, but I'll have another look at it and open up a separate thread if I still can't get it to work then.

Thanks for fixing the problem!

Yes having "Display series meta information with posts" not checked would be the cause.

It works, in the sense that the feed works. There's no list of episodes in the Atom feed. Is this the correct behaviour? (code seems to indicate otherwise...)

In the options, "Display list of series on post pages" is checked, "Display series meta information with posts" isn't. Is that the cause?

Okay I think I've fixed the problems with the atom feed (and it validated for me) - you can download the development version to check it out. There's only one file that's changed
orgSeries-rss.php

Try it out and let me know if it works for you :)

I noticed that my Atom feed was broken after I enabled OS. I use FeedBurner, but I know they're not the problem: PHP complains about the function get_the_series_atom() not existing, right after the content of the only item displayed in the feed. That would be right where (in my case) the OS list of series' "episodes" would appear.

Sure enough, changing the code in the plugin to use get_the_series_rss('atom') on line 54 in orgSeries-rss.php fixes the problem. Another option could be adding the actual get_the_series_atom() function like so:

function get_the_series_atom( return get_the_series_rss('atom') );

As far as I'm concerned this topic is resolved, it just needs to be rolled out in the code. =]

Update: actually, it's not fixed... I don't see an error anymore, but I also don't see the list of episodes in the feed. Not a deal breaker at the moment, but I suppose it "should be fixed".
Apart from that, excellent plugin! I have a small issue, but that's not related to this problem, and might be solved by me actually reading the docs... If not, I'll open a proper report for that.

An update: I found a better fix for the .rss at http://oriolrius.cat/blog/2008/04/25/problema-al-rss-del-wordpress-solucionat - I couldn't understand the language but I understood the code enough to know what the writer was talking about. Needless to say I applied this to Organize Series and released a new version - 2.0.5

Thanks, Darren.

The fix definitely cures the feed problem. And now for the REALLY screwy part. It fixed the WYSIWIG editor AND the media uploader, too.

I did have to eliminate about 3-4 extra carriage returns to get the feed to validate, but after I did everything worked. Really weird. But it may answer a lot of questions others are having with incompatibilities after the WP 2.5 upgrade.

I'm sorry you're having trouble getting on the site. I have called several people and asked them to sign on. No problems for them. So, now I've got another mystery to solve.

Thanks so much for the help and the quick response!

So did the .rss get fixed?
And are you no longer getting the broken WYSIWYG and uploads problems? It's really mysterious that you were having the problem (especially with just OrgSeries installed) because it's the first report I've heard of that on any blogs.

Do you have any other plugins that modify the write/edit post page (add in custom fields etc.)?

You can send the txt file to
drenobi+support at gmail dot com

Many thanks Darren. Yes, I have tried the WYSIWIG editor with Podpress 8.8 deactivated and Organize Series activated. Organize Series breaks the WYSIWIG editor and the image upload. With Podpress 8.8 activated and Organize Series deactivated the editor and image upload works fine. With both activated the WYSIWIG editor and the image upload are broken. I have tried reloading Organize Series (twice) with no luck.

I was working on the site a little bit this afternoon and maybe you got caught in that time frame. My apologies. Unfortunately, I can no longer duplicate the box overlap. It has disappeared. Weird. Maybe a caching issue? I have a text file of the page for the last place I saw the problem. Where do I send it?

Thanks

Hi Camp Director,

Thanks for reporting this bug - is there any chance you could put up a link to a screen shot to help me understand the "overlapping" problem you're having? Along with the screen shot, a txt file containing the page source code would be very helpful.

This is the first time I've heard of this bug so I'll try and take a closer look at it when I get a chance.

1. Regarding the validation (use of unknown namespace) - in the file
orgSeries-rss.php
try commenting out line 65, ending up with this `//add_action('rss2_ns', 'series_ns'); See if that fixes the validation problems related to Organize Series.

2. The WysIwYg editor problems - I highly suspect that there is a conflict with PodPress and Organize Series working together. Have you tried the WYsIwYg editor with just Organize Series activated and PodPress deactivated? I believe your report, I'm just not sure how Organize Series could be breaking the WYSIWYG when it uses a core WordPress hook for display. I'll have to install PodPress 8.5 myself when I get a chance and test on my end.

Incidentally I tried to go to http://www.principledpolicy.com and I get this message:
This IP address cannot be used for browsing.

I am using Wordpress 2.5, Organize Series 2.0.4, my theme is Bluline 1.0, MySQL 5.0.22. This is an IIS install. My URL is http://www.principledpolicy.com.

After upgrading to Wordpress 2.5, I could not make the WYSIWIG editor work properly. The window overlapped other boxes inside the editor, the image uploader didn't work properly, i.e. wouldn't insert images. My RSS 2.0 feed was also broken. After days and countless hours of trying various fixes (none of which worked) I deactivated all plugins and checked RSS validation. The feed worked properly. I began re-activating them in alphabetical order then checking the RSS validator. After all had been reactivated I went back to examine the ones which had shown validator trouble. The problems came from Organize Series and Podpress 8.8. When only Organize Series is activated The RSS validates but returns the message "Use of unknown namespace: http://unfoldingneurons.com" and the WYSIWIG editor in Wordpress breaks as does the image uploader. When only Podpress 8.8 is activated only the usual validator messages that I have always had appear and the WYSIWIG editor works great as does the image uploader. When both are activated the WYSIWIG editor, image uploader and RSS feed breaks and gives the message "XML parsing error: <unknown>:7:43: not well-formed (invalid token)" The highlighted line 7 says "xmlns:series="http://unfoldingneurons.com"xmlns:itunes="http://www.itunes.com/dtds/podcast-1.0.dtd"." When Organize Series is deactivated all returns to functional.
