By accident... I updated to the latest version of the plugin. I was happy with the older version I was using, but I updated somehow and never visited the Series options page for "updates" so I'm not sure if this is related..

Anyways, I added a post to a Series but it is showing up as post 4 of 3 in my series. It should be 4 of 4.

1. Plugin Version 2.1.2
2. Wordpress 2.8.4

Nevermind - I just fixed the issue. I removed the post from the series and added it back, and it seems to be legit now.

you know what, i keep running into this problem.

i posted a new post in a new series and the post did not "attach" itself to the series. the new series did not go live on my series page either.

So i removed the post from the series, and added it back again and now it works.

I've been having the same problem, can't seem to find a way around it though. At the moment I'm on a series of four posts but wordpress thinks there is only 3 (despite displaying all four on the series permalink (below).

Any ideas to get round this? Is there a bug fix?

What's happening is the 'count' field for the particular series in the wordpress database is not updating.

I need to know more specifics so I can try reproduce the problem. I can't work on a fix until I know what's causing it. So try to be as specific as possible in the steps to take to get it to happen. ie...

1. Are you adding the post to a series and then publishing or do you publish the post as a draft first or is the post scheduled?
2. Are you using the quick-edit feature on the edit posts page to add the post to a series?
3. Are you adding posts to a series that have already been published?
4. Are you changing the post from another series?

These are the kinds of questions that give you an idea of how specific you need to be in the steps I need to take to try to reproduce the problem.

Here's what I do -

I write a post in the regular window. I add the post to my category and to my series (which are the same URL). I then publish the post. In order to update the count, I have to go back and edit the post by removing it from the series, saving, then adding it back.

Occasionally I "save" the post while I'm working on it to preview it (at this point it is in the series) - and the preview shows 4 of 3 (which is normal and happened in the older version). But when I go to publish the number does not update.

The post when i first publish it shows up on the series page, but count is just incorrect.

I just reproduced this. It happens when saving a post as a draft first and then going to publish it. That's definitely NOT as intended. I'm working on a fix now and it will go in the next release (out sometime tonight or tomorrow).

Unfortunately, it looks to me like this bug is back or not fully resolved.

Plugin: 2.1.7
Wordpress: 2.9.2

Actions taken: Drafted a post, assigned it to a series, previewed and saved the draft. Series showed up as Post 3 of 2. Made final edits to post and published. Series remained at Post 3 of 2. Edited post, removed it from the series, updated. Added post back to the series, updated. Series now shows correctly as Post 3 of 3.

Thanks kitchenmouse, I'll add this as a bug ticket. I haven't reproduced this yet but will look at it when I get a chance.
