Cloudy…Widgetized!! Plugin
I’ve simply taken Chris Compton’s excellent “Cloudy” plugin and widgetized it so it’s easier to use with Automattic’s Sidebar Widgets plugin for Wordpress. For those of you who don’t know what cloudy is: It basically takes a look at everything you write about, and generates a word cloud. I like it because you can see how often you use certain words in your posts and over time this can give some interesting insights into the kind of things you write about. Of course for me, it gives further proof of my eclectic nature. Give it a whirl!

Version 0.4 - current release (Sept. 2006)
Installation
Note: This requires Chris Compton’s plugin which you can get here. This also requires the Sidebar Widgets plugin for Wordpress to be installed which you can get here.
- Download and install Chris Compton’s “Cloudy” plugin following his instructions for setting it up. Do the same for the “sidebar widgets plugin”.
- Put my plugin ‘cloudy-widget.php’ in the plugins folder of your wordpress install
- Activate it via the Plugins admin panel
- Go to your Widget control panel on the Presentation admin page and drag the “Widgetized-Cloudy” block to where you want it on your sidebar.
- You can also edit the title via the option button on the block.
Other Options
For my own theme I had to put a <div> container around the cloudy code to make it look pretty. However, you can feel free to modify that to your liking - instructions are found in the comments of the cloudy-widget code.
