Been a bit quiet here…

Yeah I know, I haven’t posted in a while. It’s just things have been so busy everytime I visit thinking I’ll post something I’m just so tired - too tired to think let alone type ! Anyway, what have I been up to that’s kept me so busy? Well aside from church stuff I’ve been working on a website for my brother-in-law in the evenings. He’s got a cabinet making business and asked me to design a simple website for him that’s easy to maintain. I just finished most of it last night - when it goes live I’ll post a link.

Another thing that’s been keeping me busy is cutting wood in preparation for winter. My house has a woodstove and it is by far the most economical way of heating our old house. So between cutting/splitting wood and preparing the house for winter I’ve been kept pretty busy outside as well. The upside to this is I’m getting lots of needed excercise and fresh air!
Meanwhile…other things that have been percolating in my brain in the last little while - get ready here comes a list…

Wireless Wonder World

WirelessMy wife and I had to take one of my daughters (Jenna) to London for a special test today at the Children’s Hospital. She’s undergoing a hearing threshold test to determine the degree of hearing loss she has. That isn’t the point of this post however (but do keep her in prayer!). I’m writing this from our hotel room and that’s the reason for this post.

I’m simply amazed with the capabilities of wireless networking! Back in January of this year our church upgraded our computers and we added a network and of course I had the fun job of installing everything :). Since the cost of wireless had come down so much I decided to go ahead and save work (threading wires through tight spaces is no fun) by putting in a wireless router and buying some cheap D-Link USB Adapters to plug in the computers. I learned alot in the process, not only about networking but also specifically wireless networking.

My family and I are back from the cottage (was gone the last week) and we had a great time! The fishing was good (between all of us we caught about 4 walleye, 3 pike, and too many perch/sunfish to count), weather wasn’t too hot or cold and overall the time away was very relaxing. Only thing I hate about vacations is the packing up and unpacking ! Anyway I should be back to more frequent posting here at YAR! for a while. For the next few days there will be a flurry of posts while I put up book reviews of the books I read while I was away and I’ll be adding a lot of pics to the gallery as well.

UPDATE: Added all the pictures from the vacation to my gallery! (June 17,2006)

Break Out!Nah this isn’t a prison story…were you looking for a prison story? I just wanted to put a note in my blog about me skipping town for a week. My family and I are going to a rented cottage along with my mother, and my sister and her husband (and Aidan their brand-spanking new baby of course!) We’re going to Chesley Lake Camp at a cottage we rented last year…we had a good time so we decided to do it again.

We all need breaks once and a while…and its healthy for the soul :) There’s no internet access where I’m going (which is a good thing) so I won’t be making any posts to my blog for a week. Wouldn’t that be funny if I came back and find out there’s been thousands of visits while I was gone? For those of you who do somehow stumble upon this blog…I hope you enjoyed your stay! Come back again!
