Thoughts on Sunday [April 5, 2009]

I missed posting about two weekends ago (March 29th) but life has been really busy!  Sorry folks.  This past weekend I had the awesome pleasure of having my kids to myself as Ker went to Niagara Falls for a Women’s Retreat (one of those times where I wish Ker kept a blog – she has some AWESOME things to share about her experience at the retreat!).  Needless to say, I had a blast with my kids this weekend.  I SOOOO MUCH LIKE BEING A DAD!  We had pillowfights, played a game called “Pictureka!”, played some Wii, went to McDonald’s for breakfast and did all sorts of other stuff together.

My observations/thoughts on Sunday at WPA:

  • I taught the first session of “Chasing Daylight” for the “Bread and Breakfast Class” (young adults) in the morning.  I absolutely love this study/book by Erwin McManus.  So challenging.  The first session was on “Choices”.  The most spiritual act we can do every day is choose.  What will YOU choose this day?  WHO will you choose to serve?

Late Night Sunday thoughts…

It’s late but I just wanted to write a few thoughts on today before heading off to bed:

  • Today was the first Sunday back for Pastor Marshall since he went to Africa.  Great to have our pastor back!
  • I shared a teaser video and introduced the “Chasing Daylight” series that I’m going to be teaching to the Young Adults Bread and Breakfast class in a couple weeks.  I’m so pumped about this!  The book by Erwin McManus has been an incredible inspiration and I really am looking forward to interacting with the class on the story of Jonathon and his armour-bearer taking on the Philistine army…Seizing the divine moments!
  • Both morning service praise times were INCREDIBLE!  I’ve gotta confess though – the second service was especially amazing as God touched those coming to the front because of weariness and tiredness in their lives.  You could see the impact the Spirit was making in their hearts and lives!
  • There were also some incredible Holy Spirit led words from the Lord as people moved in the spiritual gifts this morning.  Those who stay away from corporate worship don’t know what they’re missing.  It’s so IMPORTANT to come together to minister to one another!

Sunday Nuggets (03/01/09)

Got this weeks thoughts on Sunday out later because of a nasty cold I’m still trying to fight off…

This Sunday I sat in the “Bread and Breakfast” class which is held during the first service.  This class is for young adults and they start with a free breakfast of pancakes, fruit and the usual breakfast stuff and then have a lesson.  Currently Merrie Eizenga is teaching on Daniel.  The reason I went to the class is because I’m going to be teaching it in April and I wanted to hang out and see what it is like.  It’s awesome!  If you’re a young adult and you’re not attending this class then you need to get there!  I’m looking so forward to spending time with this class in April.

  • Prayed with Pastor Marshall, Walt Semeniuk, and Drew Eizenga at both services.  They are leaving for a couple weeks to do a tour of Africa visiting our missionaries in the field and seeing what’s happening over there.  I pray they are impacted and God uses them while they are over there.
  • Before the service began I dealt with a temperamental computer at our Kids Corner.  The wireless key wouldn’t connect to the router.  Got it fixed.
